The Colours of Life, Art and Photography Exhibition 2011
Date
: 10 Sep, 2011

The objective of the Colours of Life exhibition is to reveal to the general public how artists (Lee Long Looi, Ong Choon Hoo, Salleh Dawam, Tew Nai Tong, Teoh Kai Suan, Yong Look Lam), and photographers (Chan Jan Hoe, Ryan Tang, Jessen Lim, Kelvin Tan, Nicholas Loh, Chua Boon Keat, Daniel Yap, Jordan Lye, Jonathan Han, Choo Beng Teong, Ady Yacob, Michael Sng, Bayz Beh, Gee Boon Chan, Tan Kah Hong, Milan Teh, Justin Thow, Harvey Loh, Kelly Liew,Chua Chee Eam, Alyssa Khoo, Eh Hock Lai, Jason Mattew Tye, Lee Kim Hor and Max Lim Kok Ceng) see, use and interpret the colours of the world we, and they, live in. Each artist and photographer focuses upon colour in their own unique way. That variance of focus reveals something about the artist/photographer and the way they are towards the world in which they live – the world they wish to share with us.
As observers, we too are blessed to be able to share with those artists and photographers their visions, and hopefully come to see the world through different eyes. That experience helps us to grow as individuals, it makes us look, afresh, at the world in which we live and how others might too be experiencing that world.
The exhibition Colours of Life, through its carefully planned and orchestrated selections of paintings and photographs enables us all to share in those unique colour experiences of artists and photographers. The nature of the exhibition/display also helps us reflect upon our lives and the colours which enter them, with greater clarity and encourages us to look more closely at that delicate interplay of colours as we come across them in our own lives - on butterflies, birds, in the changing of the sky and in the street – everywhere.
It is hoped that visitors will take away with them a different perspective on colour and help them reflect upon the colour(s) in their own lives as they have been enabled, empowered and encouraged by the works they have seen by the artists and photographers at the Colours of Life exhibition/display.
