Jordan Lye
Nature, macro and landscape photographer Jordan Lye finds beauty and interest in the very mundane things that are overlooked by others. Often preferring to work alone, he sees himself as an artist who uses a camera rather than a brush. Lye’s experience spans 19 years, having started at an early age of 15, with the influence of his father.
Pure fun turned to passion and he started to take things seriously in 2005. “I wanted to record everything I saw and share with the people around me. I really believe there are things people would not be able to see if I didn"t photograph them”, says the aspiring photo journalist. “Photography is one of the most universal languages around, and you do not have to say a word. I want my photos to tell stories.......”, he adds. Lye likes most about photography is that it provides a sense of touch and feel and whatever is caught on film is captured forever.
His focus in photography is capturing nature and he attributes his skills to a lot of practice and patience. When asked to explain his photography style, Lye takes the example of wedding photography, where he prefers shooting a storybook wedding photograph. “I prefer candid, unplanned moments and details, as opposed to the traditional wedding photograph.
